The Crucible

The Crucible event is a 3Day 2Night overnight Selection based scenario. Our Cadre take individuals through mental leadership scenarios, physical fitness exams, and team based Selection activities. Read the FAQ below for additional information. We train how we fight, this is your opportunity to get a rep in Selection based activities with a focused peer group of people on this Journey, AND actual Special Operators Veterans. These Veteran Mentors are here because America NEEDS YOU to step up.


This is a rain or shine event. We sleep under the stars and rise before the sun. Many will talk, BUT FEW WILL TRY.

Physically Demanding

We begin with dedicated “selection based activities” that will give you a glimpse into the world of military based fitness.

Our event ends with hours long round table fellowship discussing your pipelines, with a  Q/A portion from cadre members.

About the Event

The Operators Association has conducted 13 Crucible events since 2020. We train young men through difficult Special Operations based evolutions and overnight experiences. These young men are either in the military or are civilians eager to join. They all want to join Special Operations and love their country. We typically have Officers, Reserves, lower & upper enlisted, and ages from 17-38. We can and will accompany your small group - email us.

Gentlemen this is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. I couldn't imagine something like this before I began my Special Forces Journey. Take this opportunity and run with it, but show up with your mind right and focused. These Veterans volunteer their time and are eager to pour into you.

There will be certain tactical training on apparatus development, SOF selection knots, swim techniques, land navigation, and Team Week prep during different events. You need to have no prior knowledge to attend. Subject to slight changes.


Candidates and class leadership learn very quickly that a solid team is vital. Following the event many candidates connect to train together throughout the year. Each year we have incredible guest cadre and speakers, with former students and graduates now included in that role. Please see the FAQ below for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can attend the Crucible?

    • US citizens with valid ID.
    • Must be 16 years old. 
    • Must be actively deciding or pursuing a career in Special Operations. 
    • SEAL, Ranger, Green Beret, FBI HRT, BORTAC, SWAT, AFSOC, MARSOC, etc.

  • What should I pack?

    The following items are mandatory:

    • US ID card.
    • Sleeping gear for both nights (sleeping bag, tent, wooby, hammock, your choice). 
    • Headlamp (1)
    • Rucksack or pack with 40lbs loaded (45# is max)
    • 2,000 calories of food. (Bars, Frog fuel, runners goo, fast sugars, MRE, small meal)
    • 1 liter of sports drink
    • Pants (2)
    • Running shorts, black (1)
    • Running shoes (1)
    • Socks (for boots and PT) 3 total pair
    • Boots/Trail shoes (1)
    • Towel (1)
    • Water, 1 Gallon
    • Small notebook (1)
    • pencil/Pen (2)

    An event T-shirt will be provided.

  • Where is it located?

    Texas: Located on a large Ranch in North Central Texas, generally along I-35

    North Carolina Event is canceled. 


    You will receive the exact address and directions after ticket purchase.

  • I'm flying into town, should I rent a car?

    Wait and chat with your class leader first. Class Leaders will organize a rideshare from the local airport. After you get connected with the class leader, he or she will steer you in the right direction for the ride share. I recommend doing this, SOF is a team—meet and connect with your team. GO ALL IN. There is also a tent share (see below).

  • Do I have to spend the night?

    Yes. However travelers can arrive anytime Friday night/Sat morning. 


    Sunday morning everyone must be off grounds by 8am. 

  • Will there be medical presence?

    Yes. We will have medical professionals on site.

  • I’m under 18, will I need a waiver signed?

    Yes. Your class leader will send out the waiver form before the event. Bring it with you to the event.

  • I just started this journey and I'm not in shape yet. What are the PT requirements?

    At a minimum, you must be able to

    • Run 2 miles continuously without walking
    • Strength to drag a person 
    • Move 3 miles with a 35# rucksack

  • What is the refund policy?

    You are headed into a rain-or-shine lifestyle and there should be zero excuses. However, actual emergencies happen. Get with your class leader and we will approve case-by-case and only with proper documentation.

  • What is the food situation?

    We provide one LARGE and locally home cooked supper on Saturday after the physical portion is completed. We also provide home cooked breakfast early Sunday morning. Bring plenty of other meals/snacks for yourself. The meals are top-notch and provided by the incredible family that donates their Ranch land and help for the events. We hosted all our Texas events here on this historic Texas property.
